I’m Suzanne, the Butterfly Lady I’ve listed favorite online butterfly
resources on the
Education page. Whether you teach school, home school your own children, or just
want to explore the world of butterflies, you’ll be off to a great start.
To attract and keep butterflies in your garden, you need
both host plants and nectar plants. Female butterflies lay their eggs on species-specific host plants that provide food, in the
form of leaves, for their caterpillars. Flowering plants offer adult butterflies energy with sugary nectar.
The
Gardening section features top-ten lists of my favorite butterfly host and nectar plants, along with
other butterfly gardening advice.
As an educator, I enjoy teaching about butterflies
in public and private schools, preschools and daycares, and to scout troops, garden clubs and others. To demonstrate the
amazing butterfly life cycle in a memorable way, I bring live butterfly eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises and adults to
the presentations. To book a visit from Butterfly
Lady, find
details on the
Presentations page. I hope to be in your classroom soon!
