Invite the Butterfly Lady to your classroom
Suzanne will travel to your classroom
to teach and demonstrate the amazing butterfly life cycle in a memorable, interactive
style using live
butterfly eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises and adults. Specimens are placed in see-through containers that the
children safely hold and pass among themselves for up-close observation.
She dresses up willing volunteers as butterflies
and moths to show their
differences in an entertaining and delightful way.
A question-and-answer session rounds out Butterfly Lady’s visit which usually
runs 50 minutes.
Supports science competency goals
Butterfly Lady’s classroom
presentations solidly support
objectives of Second Grade Science Competency Goal 1 as defined by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction:
• 1.01 Describe the life cycle of animals including birth, developing into an adult, reproducing, aging and death.
• 1.02 Observe that insects need food, air, and space to grow.
• 1.03 Observe the different stages of an insect life cycle.
 Bringing joy to the

fun of butterflies and have gained a greater appreciation and respect for
nature and its beauty with her classes and school presentations.
